The Department of Agricultural Development, Agri-Food and Natural Resources Management of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens as an Associated Partner of the Erasmus+ program entitled E.A.R.T.H. (Essence of Rural and Agricultural Touristic Hospitality) with data 2022-1-IS01-KA220-SCH-000086050, in which the 2th GEL of Chalkida participates and took over implemented on Thursday 27-04-2023 a training seminar and Workshop on Start-up business design issues at the Evripou Complex of the EKPA in Psachna Evia.

In the specific ERASMUS program, lasting two years, in addition to the 2th GEL CHALKIDAS, high schools from Iceland, Spain, Italy, Croatia and Portugal take part. The main object of study of the specific Program concerns the training of students in matters of creating Start-Up businesses by making use of the possibilities offered at the local level and with the aim of the sustainable development of local communities. The program is coordinated by Ms. Chrysoula Zalakosta, professor of English Literature, while members of the Erasmus team are Mr. Maria Zoumboulidou, Magda Kapayianni and Athina Triantafillou, philologists of the 2nd GEL CHALKIDAS.

The event was attended by the President of the Department of Rural Development, Agri-Food and Natural Resources Management, Professor Theodore Zahariadis, Associate Professor Maria Koukou, who was in charge of organizing the event, Associate Professor Yiannis Doukas, as well as the Associate Professor of the Department of Business and Organizational Management mr. Antonis Livieratos.

During the Workshop, which was held in a room kindly provided by the Department of Digital Arts and Cinema of EKPA and its President Professor Dimitris Charitos, Associate Professor Livieratos with the assistance of Ms. Andriana Papakonstantinou and Ms. Sofia Gova from the EKPA Funding Office supported the five mixed groups of students, in order to get inspired and create their own virtual startup company based on the Business Model Canvas. The students used both the knowledge they gained from the seminar that preceded it, as well as the experiences they gained during their visits to local businesses. After hard but enthusiastic work, the students presented their business plans and were evaluated by a committee consisting of Associate Prof. Antonis Livieratos, Associate Prof. Maria Koukou, Ms. Andriana Papakonstantinou and Sofia Gova. The Workshop closed with the selection of the best business proposal and the awarding of the winners. It should be noted that the event was a resounding success, as evidenced by the laudatory comments of all participating teachers and students.
