The agro-food chain begins "from the field", with the use of healthy and certified propagating material and modern cultivation that rationally manage natural resources (soil-water-energy), the development and application of modern methods of processing, standardization and certification that results in production and promotion of quality, authentic, safe and reduced environmental footprint "off the shelf" agricultural products.

The vision of the Department of Agriculture Development, Agri-Food and Natural Resources Management is to provide knowledge and conduct research in the Agricultural and Agri-Food Sector, with an emphasis on new Precision Agriculture technologies, sustainable Management of Natural Resources and innovative techniques for the production and standardization of quality Agri-Food products and of by-products of high added value, thus contributing to the sustainable development of the countryside, to the strengthening of the export character of the Agri-Food sector and at the same time to the reduction of the environmental footprint.
