Support Units and Institution Regulations

The Quality Assurance Unit of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens is a structure of the institution, which was created on July 24, 2008 for the purpose of organizing, coordinating and implementing the Evaluation and Quality Assurance procedures in full harmonization and agreement with the requirements of the institutional framework in force in Greece (Law 3374/2005).

The evaluation criteria and indicators it uses and monitors are based on the above institutional framework in the following four axes: (a) the quality of the teaching work, (b) the quality of the research work, (c) the quality of the study programs, and ( d) the quality of other services (administrative services, student care, ICT infrastructure, transparency in the management of financial resources, etc.).

The Foreign Student Support Unit of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) is a structure of the Foundation and was created with the 28-4-2021 (27th meeting) decision of the Senate of the NKUA which was published in the Official Gazette 4237/t. B΄/14-9-2021 in accordance with article 93 of Law 4692/2020, as amended by article 212 of Law 4957/2022.

The mission of the Accessibility Unit for Students with Disabilities is the practical achievement of equal access to academic studies for students with different abilities and requirements. The Accessibility Unit also supports students with learning disabilities or serious illnesses. The main means employed for its purposes are Adaptations to the Environment, Supportive Information Technologies and Access Services. The aim is to satisfy the basic needs and requirements of PfEAs such as: interpersonal communication with members of the academic community, writing notes and assignments, access to university building facilities, educational materials, the blackboard and classroom projections, exams and internet content.

The Accessibility Unit for Students with Disabilities includes:

  • Department of Virtual Accessibility services
  • Depatrment of Physical Accessibility services
  • Transportation Service
  • Psychological Counseling Service
