Upport of Students with Disabilities

The Accessibility Unit for Students with Disabilities (MoProPmeA) of the University of Athens seeks equal access to the academic studies of students with different abilities and adaptations, through the provision of adaptations to environment, IT assistive technologies and access services.

The Accessibility Unit for Students with Disabilities includes:

• registration service of the specific needs of each Student with Disability
• department of accessibility in the University
• transfer service of Students with Disabilities from their residence to Schools and vice versa
• assistive IT technologies
• free software for Students with Disabilities
• accessible literature
• accessible workstations in the Libraries
• relay service for the direct live telecommunication of the student, through interpretation in Greek sign language, with fellow students, Professors and University employees
• service of volunteer fellow students
• instructions on the appropriate ways of examining
• psychological counseling service.

The IT Accessibility department of NKUA includes:

• assessment of Students with Disabilities capabilities with scientific methodology in order to propose a specialized solution of advanced Assistive Technology, as well as assistance in the procurement of appropriate IT equipment and software and technical support
• volunteer support service for the coordination of the systematic, discreet and safe service by qualified volunteers and their fellow students in matters related to their studies
• teleinterpretation service in Greek sign language
• service for producing accessible documents in different formats.
