- Populations – size, growth, population dynamics with and without self-regulation
- Population dynamics in space and time
- Population interactions (competition, predation, mutualism)
- Biocommunities and Ecosystems – Changes of communities in space and time
- Biogeochemical Cycles, Energy Flow and Productivity
- Patterns of species diversity
- Conservation Ecology (Cases of population explosions, Small populations, Endangered species and populations)
- Preservation of Populations and Species (Directive 92/43/EEC on the conservation of natural habitats as well as wild fauna and flora and Directive 2000/60/EC of the European Union on the quality of aquatic ecosystems)
